Bicycle shops now sell an Early Trail Warning Device--a.k.a. a bicycle bell--for about $3.50. Every cyclist who tears down the narrow steep trails in Crystal Cove or Aliso-Wood parks should have one. It will help prevent bloody crashes in which both cyclists and hikers are victims.
