Harlan G. Palmer, who became publisher of the old Hollywood Citizen-News on the death of his father, died Sunday at his North Hollywood home of lung cancer.
A graduate of Occidental College and a lifelong supporter of the YMCA, Palmer was 74.
He began as an assistant publisher under Harlan G. Palmer Sr., took over the paper in 1956 and ran it until it was sold in the 1960s. It ceased publication in 1971.
Palmer’s survivors include his wife, Rosemary, two sons, two daughters, a brother, a sister, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood.
