Exxon to Begin Nelson Field Development: Exxon Corp. received permission from Britain to begin its $2-billion development of the Nelson oil and gas field in the North Sea, the company said. Exxon has a 23% stake in the field, which is about 100 miles northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland, and has an estimated 450 million barrels of recoverable oil and 185 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas. Shell and Enterprise Oil are also major participants in the field.
