Free-agent left wing John Tonelli, who had said he sensed the Kings were not interested in his returning next season, has signed with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Because Tonelli was a free agent without compensation, the Blackhawks are not required to give the Kings anyone in return. The Kings signed Tonelli as a free agent June 27, 1988.
Last season with the Kings, Tonelli played in 71 games and had 14 goals and 16 assists.
“A couple of teams were interested, but when I found the Blackhawks were interested, they were No. 1 on my list,” Tonelli said.
