COUNTYWIDE : Lung Assn. Plans July 3 Smokeout

One day before the nation sets fire to Independence Day pyrotechnics, smokers across the country will be asked to extinguish their cigarettes and declare freedom from tobacco products.
The American Lung Assn. is staging a smokeout July 3 to help the more than 50 million smokers in the United States kick the habit, officials said.
According to statistics compiled by the association, at least 434,000 Americans die each year due to lung diseases brought on by smoking.
