Ted Green, 51, who has spent nine of the last 10 seasons as an assistant or co-coach in Edmonton, was named head coach of the Oilers. Green succeeds John Muckler, who quit to become the Buffalo Sabres’ director of operations.
A 16-year NHL veteran, Green was known as Terrible Teddy because of his fierce defensive style as a player.
