California IN BRIEF : MISSION VIEJO : Driver Penalized for Kicking Boy Off Bus

A school bus driver who ordered a 7-year-old student off her bus more than a mile from school last week because he was carrying a box of lizards has been suspended, probably until the school year ends next week. Saddleback Valley Unified School District Supt. Peter A. Hartman said that if the driver--whose name has not been released--is allowed to keep her job after the district completes its investigation, she will be prohibited from driving students to or from Gates Elementary School as long as Tristan Martin, the ejected second grader, is a student there.
