POP ALBUM CHART : Another Week on Top for ‘Mariah’
- Share via
Mariah Carey’s debut album, which has sold more than 4 million copies, continues its stranglehold on the No. 1 spot of the Billboard magazine chart--its 11th week on top. Her single, “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” is No. 8 and rising on the pop singles chart, probably assuring her album a few more weeks on top. The Divinyls’ “Divinyls” jumped from No. 21 to No. 15 and is a good bet to make the Top 10. The group’s hit single, “I Touch Myself,” is propelling the album. Rod Stewart’s “Vagabond Heart” inched up a notch to No. 10. The new No. 1 pop single is Roxette’s “Joyride.”
* This shapes up as one of the summer’s biggest albums. Most critics bash Bolton, but his fans--particularly women--are fanatically devoted to him. “Time, Love and Tenderness” debuted at No. 38 and should bolt into the Top 20 next week.
