Turner, CBS to Meet: Executives of CBS and Turner Broadcasting System will hold talks in mid-May to discuss sharing some news-gathering operations, officials of the companies confirmed. The talks are exploratory only, executives said. The May meeting is a revival of talks that CNN founder Ted Turner and CBS Chairman Laurence A. Tisch held in 1990. CBS is amid a round of cutbacks at its foreign news bureaus and is looking for additional ways to cut its news-gathering costs abroad.
