Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Surgery Falls Short in Parkinson’s Study

An experimental operation that created excitement as a possible cure for Parkinson’s disease has produced disappointing results, a researcher reported. Only a small percentage of 94 patients who had pieces of their adrenal glands grafted into their brains showed significant improvement and most showed only marginal benefit, said the researcher, Dr. Roy Bakay of Emory University.
