Allen Jackson; Bassist With Contemporary Jazzmen

Allen Jackson, 51, a bassist for 30 years, most of them on the Los Angeles jazz scene. Born in Florida, Jackson came to Los Angeles in the early 1960s, where he appeared in clubs with the Contemporary Jazzmen. He recorded with saxophonist Sonny Stitt, pianist Jack Wilson and drummer Clarence Johnson and backed up singers Lorez Alexandria and Nancy Wilson. He also was featured on a recent compact disc with Page Cavanaugh. On March 29 in Los Angeles, of the complications of bone cancer.
