COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Trio of Home Runs Helps Master’s Beat Hawaii-Hilo

Mike Weinstein pitched six shutout innings, allowed just two hits and struck out two as The Master’s College recorded a 7-0 nonconference baseball victory over the University of Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday in Honolulu.
Catcher Dan O’Sullivan snapped a scoreless tie with his fourth home run of the season leading off the fourth inning, providing Weinstein (1-0) with the only run he would need.
E. J. Pape, who finished with three hits, added a two-run home run in the fifth. Tony Jamie hit a two-run homer in the seventh for Master’s (14-9).
The Mustangs’ other runs came in the sixth on a double by Kevin Backus, a triple by Russ Henzie and a run-scoring single by Sheldon Sparks.
Canyons 6, Cuesta 3--Canyons overcame a 2-0 deficit and scored all six runs in the fourth inning to win a third-place game in the Hancock tournament.
Bobby Corrales, Jon Beauchemin and Jon Strauss each singled in a run for Canyons (12-11-1). Also in the fourth inning, a ground out by Ty Powell scored a run and a fly ball from Walter White scored another. Josh Bergara’s bases-loaded walk accounted for Canyons’ sixth run.
Mitch Bowen (1-2), a freshman right-hander from St. Francis High, went seven innings and allowed one earned run. He struck out three and walked none.
Damon Paikos pitched the final two innings for Canyons, notching his first save. He struck out three and allowed one hit.
