The San Pedro Falcons, a soccer team for girls ages 12 and 13, will compete in the American Youth Soccer Organization Tri-Sectionals Saturday in Garden Grove.
The Falcons earned a berth in the championship round by winning the Section I title March 2 with a 5-1 victory over Moreno Valley in a game played in Pasadena. San Pedro has only one loss, that coming in September in intra-regional play.
The AYSO does not hold state finals, so the Tri-Sectionals serve as the final round of playoffs, which began in January with competition among regional champions from Southern California.
Playing for the Falcons will be Victoria Brucker, Jodi Chimielewski, Michelle Cooper, Nicole DeLuca, Diana DeMartino, Shawnee Dolan, Christina Dominguez, Jessica Esaw, Amy Hvitfeldtsen, Lauri Jasprica, Diane Lang, Elaine Marino, Melissa Delp and Joy Steers. The team is coached by Dan Dolan, Greg Esaw and Joey Amalfitano.
