Darcy Arreola and Chris Perry of Cal State Northridge will return to competition today in the Northridge Invitational at Northridge.
Arreola, a two-time NCAA Division I All-American in cross-country and track, will make her season debut after missing several meets because of illness. She will run in the 800 meters and might run a leg in the mile relay.
Perry, the 1990 Division II champion in the men’s long jump as a freshman, has not competed since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last month. He is entered in the 400 and the 200.
Melanie Clarke of Valley College, the defending state junior college champion in the heptathlon, is entered in the women’s 200 and 400, the high jump, long jump and javelin.
Senior Tyrone Jeffries also will be busy, running in the men’s 100, 200, and 110-meter high hurdles.
The meet will start with the B sections of the women’s long jump and javelin at 9 a.m.
The first running event is the B section of the men’s 5,000 meters at 9:35 a.m.
