South Africa could return to the international sports community by the middle of this year and probably will have a team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, a leading anti-apartheid campaigner said. Sam Ramsamy, who last weekend was named chairman of the new Interim National Olympic Committee of South Africa, said his two-decade fight to abolish apartheid and return South Africa to the Olympics is nearly over.

South Africa was expelled by the International Olympic Committee in 1970.
