COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Duo Teams For Perfect Game

Laura Corson and Karrie Swartz combined for a perfect game as Cypress defeated Saddleback, 8-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday at Cypress.

Corson had six strikeouts in the first five innings, and Swartz had one in the final two for Cypress (17-6, 4-0). Corson has allowed four hits and no runs in 22 conference innings.

Digna Salas had two hits and scored a run for Cypress, which had seven players with one RBI each. Saddleback is 3-8, 1-3.

In other conference games:

Golden West 2, Rancho Santiago 0--Pam Fogg (4-2) pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and retired 19 of the final 20 batters she faced for visiting Golden West (8-5, 2-3).

Cheri Williams and an RBI single and Nicole Berlandier drove in another run with a groundout as Golden West scored twice in the third inning. Rancho Santiago is 4-8, 0-4.

Riverside 4, Fullerton 1--Pita Licon had two doubles for Fullerton (6-7, 3-2). Riverside is 7-4, 2-2.
