A man who complained of stomach pains to friends Friday night was found to have been shot, apparently at close range, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was at Centennial Park with friends when he told them shortly after 7 p.m. that he felt a pain in his stomach, Police Lt. Chuck Magdalena said.
The friends took him to a hospital, where doctors discovered that he had been shot once by a small-caliber gun, Magdalena said.
The man was undergoing surgery Friday night at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, but it was not considered to be a life-threatening wound, Magdalena said. An investigation is continuing.
