The Orange County Volleyball club’s 18-and-under team has been selected to compete in a four-team tournament in Nagasaki, Japan, on March 31.
The team, which includes several area high school players, will spend 10 days touring Japan, and will play against all-star teams from China, Japan and Korea.
The team is coached by former Corona del Mar Coach Charlie Brande. The tour is part of the Pacific American Cultural Exchange program.
The club’s top players are Prentice Perkins and Lara Carlsen (Corona del Mar High School), Brandi Brooks (Estancia), Ashley Wacholder (Laguna Beach), Tina Grasselli (Woodbridge) and Marta Bickert (El Toro). The squad won the Las Vegas Festival, a 160-team national club tournament in February.
