Crime Time & Prime Time: CBS will finally pull the plug on its late-night “America Tonight” news program March 29 to make way for a new lineup of crime shows. “America Tonight,” CBS’ low-rated answer to ABC’s successful “Nightline,” was to be discontinued in January, but got a reprieve because of the Gulf War. The new shows, starting April 2, are “Fly by Night,” “Sweating Bullets,” “Dark Justice,” “The Exile” and “Scene of the Crime,” an anthology series introduced by the show’s creator and executive producer, Stephen J. Cannell. In prime time, the network is set to premiere a new spring series about a public defender and a district attorney on March 26, with Lauren Holly and David Andrews starring. “The Trials of Rosie O’Neill” returns April 5, and “Northern Exposure” is due back April 8.
