Deputies Search for Altadena Girl

More than 100 sheriff’s deputies spent Saturday knocking on doors in Altadena seeking information about an 11-year-old girl who failed to return home from school, authorities said.
Christina Basowa was last seen at about 3:30 p.m. Friday at the corner of Sinola Avenue and New York Drive, where a school bus delivered her and several classmates from Andrew Jackson Elementary School, Sheriff’s Deputy Hal Grant said.
Basowa, who lives with her father about three blocks from the bus stop, had previously run away to a relative’s house for one day, Grant said.
“She has relatives in the area, but of the ones we’ve contacted, nobody’s seen her,” he said.
Basowa is described as an African-American girl, about five-feet tall, weighing 100 pounds and wearing a pink T-shirt with a unicorn print, lavender pants and a purple jacket.
