THOUSAND OAKS : Squirrel’s Death Cuts Power to 1,000

About 1,000 Thousand Oaks businesses were without electricity for half an hour Tuesday after a squirrel climbed onto a power pole, electrocuting itself and short-circuiting power lines, officials said.
Businesses, residents and traffic signals along Thousand Oaks Boulevard between Moorpark and Cunningham roads lost power about 10:47 a.m. The system was running 29 minutes later after officials discovered the problem, said Carol Larson, area manager for Southern California Edison Co.
