Prestigious Secretarial School to Close: The 71-year-old Washington School for Secretaries, whose graduates have served in the White House, on Capitol Hill and in Cabinet-level offices, will close at the end of the month, reflecting a national trend. The school was plagued by a drop in enrollments to just 125 in the last term, from about 600 three years ago. Seven instructors and 10 staff members will lose their jobs. Officials said they had a hard time recruiting students because they did not receive advertising money from the parent company, the financially beleaguered Wilfred American Educational Corp. in New York.
