The A-6 Intruder that crashed on landing on the carrier America last week is the fifth such aircraft reported lost since the war started. The carrier-based all-weather bomber is considered the Navy’s most important attack aircraft. Approximately 350 A-6s are in service with Navy and Marine Corps squadrons.
