Credit Where Due

How much research has Peter Greenberg done in advising passengers to “protect themselves by using credit cards to purchase tickets,” enabling them to dispute charges and receive credit (Savvy Traveler, Feb. 3)?
When a passenger disputes a charge for an airline ticket, the credit card company doesn’t just let it go. They charge it back to the airline, who in turn charges it back to the travel agency in the form of a debit memo which must be paid or it goes to collection.
Travel agents issue tickets at the request of the passenger, then get left holding the bag. I know. I work in the accounting department of a travel agency.
