After losing to Riverside College, 7-4, in the first game, Ventura’s baseball team rebounded to beat Santa Monica, 4-3, Friday in its second game of the Riverside tournament and qualify for the title game. Ventura (9-1), which had an eight-game winning streak snapped, must beat Riverside twice today to win the title.
In other games:
Pierce 10, San Diego City 3--Travis Arsenault scattered eight hits for Pierce (6-2). Ricky Banuelos drove in four runs.
Glendale 9, San Diego Mesa 6--Swain Wukelich and Scott Wirz each had a double and a home run for visiting Glendale (6-3) in a nonconference game.
Moorpark 18, Hancock 4--Del Marine drove in four runs for Moorpark (5-3) in the first round of the Central Coast tournament.
Bakersfield 3, Mission 1--Tom Gibson, Richard Ortiz and Brad McGahan each had two hits for Mission (3-5) in the first round of the Bakersfield tournament.
Kings River 4, Oxnard 2--Joe Canfield (2-1) allowed only one earned run but Oxnard (4-6) fell in the Bakersfield tournament.
