Nichols Institute: The diagnostic testing firm said its fourth-quarter net income dipped slightly to $1.3 million from $1.4 million in the year-ago period. It attributed the dip to start-up costs for two laboratories in Portland, Ore., and Dallas. Revenue rose 33% to $45.5 million. Full-year net income increased 44% to $6.9 million. Revenue jumped 35% to $174.8 million. The San Juan Capistrano company cited growth in its Midwest-based regional laboratories and its diagnostic kit business.
