Times Theater Critic Dan Sullivan is taking early retirement after 22 years at The Times to write and teach in the Twin Cities, where he began his career as a critic in the early 1960s. Sullivan has been on a personal leave of absence since last year.
He is finishing a biography of the American playwright William Inge, “Dark at the Top,” to be published by William Morrow Inc. in 1993.
Sullivan also will teach arts reviewing and reporting at the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He will serve as an adviser to the Center for Arts Criticism in St. Paul. And he will continue his summertime teaching at the Eugene O’Neill Foundation’s National Critics’ Institute in Waterford, Conn.
