Iraqi crisis: The Times has received 8,446 letters on the Iraq-Kuwait crisis so far; 2,319 letters supported the Bush Administration’s action; 4,458 were critical of U.S. actions; 962 discussed oil and U.S. energy problems, and 707 related the events to other topics. Since the war began, 1,009 writers backed the allied war effort, while 1,239 opposed it.
