Sullivan Quits Patriots After Duties Cut Back

An emotional Patrick Sullivan, upset with his diminished duties with the New England Patriots, resigned Tuesday night as general manager of the team his father founded in 1960.
Sullivan, 38, started working for the Patriots when he was 7 years old by picking up dirty equipment in the locker room and rose to general manager in 1983. He remained after his father, William H. Sullivan Jr., sold the team to Victor Kiam in October 1988.
In December, Kiam named Sam Jankovich the team’s chief executive officer and Sullivan’s duties were reduced.
