About 15 youths boarded an RTD bus in Pacoima Tuesday morning, forced out the driver and spray-painted graffiti inside the vehicle as 25 passengers scrambled out. No injuries were reported.
Eight juveniles who were believed to be involved were detained by police but then released after the bus driver could not identify them.
Andrea Greene, a spokeswoman for Southern California Rapid Transit District, said the youths boarded the bus at 8 a.m. at the corner of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Paxton Street.
Greene said the youths chased the driver out of the bus, and began spray-painting the windows and a seat.
Meanwhile, the driver, Kimberly Brown-Washington, 31, called for help from a pay phone.
