More than 16,000 runners are expected at the start of today’s Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K, the 13th annual pre-football event that brings together a mixture of elite runners, casual joggers and wildly dressed centipede teams.
Among the elite runners are Ivan Huff, a top American steeplechaser; Thom Hunt of Coronado, the former American 10-kilometer record-holder, and Henry Rono, who once had four world records.
Favorites among the women are Sylvia Mosqueda of Alhambra, a two-time Redondo Beach winner, and Tina Ljundberg, the former Swedish cross-country champion.
The race starts at 8 a.m. at Beryl Street and Harbor Drive, at the entrance to Redondo Beach Harbor.
