Jenkins Was Convicted, but Record Was Cleared

On Jan. 9, in your article “Carew’s Swing Opens Door to Hall of Fame,” you made a serious error by saying Ferguson Jenkins was convicted for cocaine possession in 1980. Check out the record and you will find it was a marijuana conviction.

Editor’s note: Jenkins was arrested for, and convicted of, possessing marijuana, cocaine and hashish, but the judge later ordered his record cleared because of his history of community service.
