COMEBACK? Former Irvine Mayor Larry Agran made an unpublicized trip to Connecticut after Christmas to meet with George McGovern, who ran for president during America’s last war. . . . McGovern, now thinking of trying again, met with several supporters. Agran said McGovern, who was trounced in 1972 by Richard M. Nixon, wanted to see “if he could be a voice that would command a following.” The consensus: chances of nomination are slim but it’s not impossible, Agran said.
