Roger Clemens and his brother, Gary, were charged Saturday with aggravated assault on a police officer after a skirmish in a west Houston nightclub, police said.
Roger, the two-time Cy Young Award winner for the Boston Red Sox, and his 39-year-old brother were released on third-degree felony charges after posting bond of $2,000 each, according to Houston police.
Police said Clemens, 28, who lives about 25 miles west of Houston, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. CST Saturday after he and his brother allegedly wrestled with an officer trying to break up an argument at the Bayou Mama’s nightclub.
Police said Roger Clemens apparently “jumped on the officer’s back and choked the officer” trying to arrest his brother, and that three more officers joined the fray before the brothers were subdued.
Clemens could not be reached for his version of the incident.
