Civil Rights and Quotas
In response to Tom Bethell’s comments on the rejected 1990 Civil Rights Act (“Democrats’ Quota Bill: Racial Spoils,” Column Right, Jan. 7), I feel that he needs to be reminded that whites would have been protected by these laws also. I am white and my boss is a minority, and like it or not, this situation will be ever more common in the future. All races need laws to protect against discrimination. What we need is a little more vision from our elected leaders. If this legislation is brought up again this year, let us hope that those who vote on these issues realize that civil rights are for all of us.
