Loara 89, El Dorado 78--The game matched the two players with the highest single-game performances of the season. Loara guard Tes Whitlock, who set a county record with 68 points earlier this season against Saddleback, had 36 points. El Dorado forward Brett Tomko, who scored 55 points earlier this season against Compton, finished with 22.
Whitlock made 11 of 22 shot attempts, had five three-pointers and 11 assists. Loara forward Charlie Gipson added 27 points, including 17 points in the third quarter.
Katella 75, Cypress 60--Kevin Carlson had 24 points to lead visiting Katella (10-4, 1-0). Courtney Smalley had 20 for Cypress (6-9, 0-1).
