The Ventura County district attorney’s office announced a settlement Wednesday of its lawsuit against the owner of a Simi Valley bar where nude dancers allowed patrons to touch them in exchange for money.
Walter Joseph Podulka, 43, owner of Snooky’s bar, agreed to pay a $14,724 settlement of the lawsuit, filed May 4 in Superior Court. The money would reimburse Simi Valley police, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the district attorney’s office for the cost of a series of arrests the same day, Deputy Dist. Atty. Gregory W. Brose said.
Podulka was arrested and pleaded guilty to charges of aiding and abetting prostitution and violating the state Business and Professions Code. Dancers Bryn Roebuck, 24, of Los Angeles and Dawn Elstad, 27, of North Hollywood also were arrested and pleaded guilty to lewd conduct and prostitution.
Judge Melinda A. Johnson also issued a permanent injunction prohibiting the behavior and confirmed a preliminary order for Podulka to install a video camera to record the dancing and to keep the tapes so that authorities may review them at any time.
