West Covina : Paramedic Unit Planned
The city expects to have a second paramedic unit operating by Aug. 1.
The City Council on Monday unanimously approved the new nine-member unit for the city’s Fire Department. Three firefighters will take part in a six-month training program in January, and six new paramedics will be hired.
The estimated cost for the service is $157,000 for the rest of the current fiscal year, through June 30. A $130,000 debt repayment by the West Covina Redevelopment Agency, however, will offset the first year’s cost.
