Anti-Semitism in Poland

In response to “Communism Toppled, Prejudice Endures,” by Deborah Lipstadt (Commentary, Nov. 27):
I have to protest yet another “scientific” proof that Poles are “virulent” anti-Semitics. This time this hogwash theory is based on a fact that Ms. Lipstadt allegedly overheard a teacher in Auschwitz telling her class “ . . . that 90% of the people who died at the camp were Poles. . . .”
Dear Ms. Lipstadt: They were Poles even if they were of Jewish religion. Jews lived in Poland since 14th Century. For generations they were born there, they went to Polish schools, they spoke Polish. They were as much Poles as Ms. Lipstadt is an American, whatever her religious beliefs are.
