Girl, 14, Found Dead in Bedroom of Her Home

Sheriff’s homicide investigators were looking into the death of a 14-year-old East Los Angeles girl who was found dead in a rear bedroom of her small home on South Gage Avenue Friday when a classmate stopped by to accompany her to school, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
The girl, identified as Maribel Perez, may have been strangled, according to the coroner’s office. Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assigned to the case, but no other details were available, according to Deputy Larry Mead.
