STANTON — A 32-year-old woman was stabbed repeatedly Tuesday evening when she spurned the sexual advances of an intruder in her home, authorities said.
The woman, whose name was withheld, underwent emergency surgery for multiple stab wounds to the chest at UCI Medical Center in Orange, a medical center spokeswoman said. She was in critical condition.
Sheriff’s deputies, meanwhile, were scouring the area around the woman’s apartment complex in the 10600 block of Knott Avenue, Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Richey said. The suspect being sought was described as a young man with a butch haircut who was last seen wearing a white shirt and denim jacket.
Richey said the first call came at 6:43 p.m., after the wounded woman telephoned for help. The woman told officers she confronted a strange man in her bedroom.
“It looks like she surprised the intruder . . . ,” Richey said.
