Hewlett-Packard Unveils Advanced Products: The firm introduced five mid-range computer systems and said they offer three times the performance of existing mid-range products. The additions to the H-P 3000 and H-P 9000 product lines employ Hewlett-Packard’s proprietary reduced instruction set computing (RISC) technology and high-density computer chips to achieve the performance improvements. Separately, Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive John Young told analysts that sales trends this fall had been “encouraging” and that the company expects moderate growth next year.
