Northridge Finds a Team It Can Handle, 109-90
- Share via
After three lopsided road losses, Cal State Northridge gained its first victory in its inaugural Division I basketball season, 109-90, over Northern Arizona Saturday night at Northridge.
Seven Matadors scored in double figures, led by Todd Bowser with 17 points and David Keeter with 16.
Northridge ran off 15 consecutive points to open the game, including a steal and dunk by Keith Gibbs, a steal and layup by Andre Chevalier, two three-point baskets by Kyle Kerlegan and a three-pointer by Keeter.
The Lumberjacks (0-3) couldn’t handle the Matadors’ full-court zone press, which forced seven turnovers in the first six minutes.
Northern Arizona ended the drought on a basket by Steve Williams, but Northridge pushed the lead to 20-2.
