BAGHDAD, Iraq — President Saddam Hussein responded defiantly to Thursday’s developments at the United Nations, declaring that he is not afraid to fight the United States.
“The Americans are still influenced by ‘Rambo’ movies but this is not a ‘Rambo’ movie,” he warned, according to official Baghdad Radio. He also said, in a speech reported by the official Iraqi news agency, that Iraq has the ability to detect U.S. Stealth bombers.
“They (the Americans) are talking about the plane which they call the ghost and nobody can see,” he said. “But if God wishes war to erupt, they will see that this ghost will be seen even by the shepherds in the desert with the Iraqi technology.”
