West Covina : Shuttle Contract OKd
The City Council on Monday unanimously approved a three-year contract with Community Transit Services Inc. to continue its shuttle service to the city.
The service began in April, 1988, transporting riders from Eastland Center mall and Restaurant Row to Fashion Plaza and the Civic Center. Last year the route was adjusted to include the Queen of the Valley Hospital area. It increased ridership from 4,500 to 7,000 monthly.
Total cost of the new contract is $1,169,562, which will come from Proposition A funds, the half-cent sales tax earmarked for local transportation.
The new contract takes effect in July, but the old one expires in April. In order to continue uninterrupted shuttle service, the council voted to appropriate $100,000 to fund the service in the interim.
