Arcadia : Holiday ‘Wish’ Tree Set Up
Artificial Christmas trees decorated with “sugar plum” wishes, will be displayed in the center court of Santa Anita Fashion Park mall Friday through Dec. 16.
The trees are a project of Friends of Foster Children, a nonprofit organization that helps foster families in the San Gabriel Valley, said Teri Marquez, a volunteer with the group.
For 14 years, the group has placed tags--each with a child’s name, age and three wishes for Christmas--on the trees. Shoppers are asked to pick a tag, buy one of the items and place it, unwrapped, under the tree. More than 5,000 items are collected and distributed to foster children throughout the year, Marquez said.
