Nation : Shuttle Lands--in Florida

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA guided Atlantis to a rare Florida landing today after high wind and damp runways prevented the space shuttle and its five astronauts from touching down in the California desert.
There have been six space shuttle landings in Florida, most recently in 1985, when Discovery blew a tire.
Atlantis, which began its secret mission Thursday with an unusual nighttime liftoff, landed at Kennedy Space Center after circling the world 80 times.
Atlantis was supposed to land Monday at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.
