Two 10-foot boa constrictors survived a house fire Monday that claimed the lives of two pet Doberman pinschers in Carson, authorities said.
Residents of the home in the 2700 block of East Madison Street had piled clothes over a floor furnace, said Los Angeles county Fire Capt. Robert Kummelehne. The furnace came on Monday and ignited the clothing, he said.
The residents were away, but the dogs were overcome by smoke, the captain said. The snakes were inside a glass case and appeared “very calm,” he said.
