Rest Stop Robbery
Having just returned from a trip through France with a planned side trip to Barcelona, I wish to warn about an apparently common problem at the southern France-Spanish border on the main highway route to Barcelona: car robberies.
We parked our car alongside a table and enjoyed our lunch. On returning to the car, no more than 10 feet from us, I discovered all movable items had been pilfered from the car. We had heard and observed nothing.
Our property was found in a sack by the side of the road by police who patrol the area constantly because theft, especially from that rest stop, is very common. Other travelers should be warned.
