COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Waller Leads Chapman to Volleyball Victory

Debbi Waller had 13 kills to lead Chapman College to a three-game sweep of Dominguez Hills in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Friday at Chapman.
Chapman improved to 21-13, 5-4 in conference, with the 15-13, 15-10, 15-10 victory. Heather Mead had 20 digs for Chapman. Gale Derricot had 16 kills for Dominguez Hills (7-18, 1-8).
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
San Jose State 3, UC Irvine 0--The Spartans defeated UC Irvine, 15-13, 15-1, 15-9. Kim Collins had nine kills and 12 digs for host Irvine (8-18, 4-11). San Jose State (19-5, 11-5) is ranked No. 9 in the nation.
In the Rolex-Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn. Southern California championships:
Irvine players advance--Brett Hansen-Dent of UC Irvine defeated Brian Dick of Arizona, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals at UC Irvine.
In doubles, Hansen-Dent teamed with Carsten Hoffman to defeat Chris Entzel and Misa Jevtic of Nevada Las Vegas, 6-2, 6-1.
Hoffman lost his third-round match singles to Brian MacPhie of USC, 6-3, 6-4.
